MPM2DE is an enriched program for students interested in enrolling in the International Baccalaureate for grade 11 and 12. In addition to covering the grade 10 academic curriculum, MPM2DE has been designed to expose students to concepts they will encounter in Grade 11 math.
UNIT 1 - LINEAR SYSTEMS, FUNCTIONS AND NOTATION
In this unit, students will review concepts covered in Grade 9 around solving linear equations and applying their solving skills in questions (systems) involving multiple lines.
Students will learn about function notation and its applications. Students will evaluate specific values of x for known functions and produce the graphs.
Lesson 1.1
In this lesson we look at sets of numbers as well as a review of multiplying and dividing fractions.

Investigation
This investigation has been designed to get students to independently develop the graphs of the 4 main functions seen in Grade 11 Functions. Students will use function notation and the idea of function machines to produce a unique output from a list of given inputs.

Lesson 1.5
In this lesson students review their solving skills from grade 9 and look to improve upon them with tougher homework questions.
Blank Lesson Challenging Linear Solving Practice
Lesson 1.5 Video Challenge Videos: # 2, 3, 6, 7, 8
Lesson 1.6
In this lesson students use their linear solving skills acquired in the last lesson to find the inverse of a function f(x).
Students will become aware of how the inverse compares with the original both graphically and algebraically.

Lesson 1.7
In this lesson we review graphing linear equations written in both y=mx+b as well as Ax + By + C = 0. We will look at the methods and the merits of each equation individually.

Lesson 1.9
In this lesson we look back at the components of a line, slope and the y-intercept. We compare these components in systems of equations and decide how many solution that system will have by looking at the slopes and y-intercepts.
One solution, no solutions, or infinite solutions.

Lesson 1.10
In this lesson we explore a more accurate approach to finding the point of intersection. We will use our algebra skills that were reviewed at the beginning of the course to learn a process known as substitution.

Lesson 1.11
In this lesson we explore a more accurate approach to finding the point of intersection. Our goal is to match the coefficients in front of one of the variables so that we can eliminate that variable, and solve for the other.
